The mighty Bismarck attempts to sneak out into the Atlantic. The pride of the Royal Navy, the Hood, is sunk. Outdated torpedo bombers cripple the Bismarck’s steering. King George VI and Rodney destroy the Bismarck. The Bismarck final sinks after firing scuttling charges
@RWSHunter The Western Allies faced 60 divisions in France and Italy while the USSR faced 100.
Also, the ones in the USSR were of higher quality; many more SS divisions as opposed to “plain” Wehrmacht troops in the West.
@AidenPryde3025 You should read up on “The Battle of Moscow” which in some ways was more important than Stalingrad.
The Germans lost that purely because their logistics had not caught up with their maneuver elements.
If that had happened, Germany would have defeated the USSR.
@Exploderking51 The UK and US supplied about 15% of the USSR’s war materiel. Not a tremendous lot but not a little, either.
@fauxsham 80% of the ussr men born in 1923, did not survive the war.
Great video, Thanks to all who made it, and shared it. But what a sad reflection on Humanity, that we keep having wars, and keep having them, and keep having them, to no end.
although Russia had the advantage of an almost unlimited supply of manpower, hence the “russian steamroller”. Even if your opponent kills 10 of you for every 1 of his own men, if you have 20x the manpower, eventually you’ll win by sheer numbers.
Actually, the allies had to supply Russia with materials to be able to fight the Germans since Russia was low and supplies anyways.
I have to disagree. Up till 1942 Hitler had let his Generals draw up plans and execute them as best they could, and they had given Germany nothing but victory. At Stalingrad, and afterward he took control and the war was lost.
I am also confident that the Soviets would have been able to defeat Germany without Allied help.
Might have taken longer, but it was inevitable after Stalingrad.
well said. no1 can beat the UK and US.
@sheemsheem you are a dumbass. If you have overwhelming firepower, your going to use it.
You are not the brightest crayon in the box are ya kiddo?
yes the thought two fronts (3 if you include italy) ,,, and lost,,,emphasis on LOST, due to inferior leadership . . . launching the biggest military offensive of all time derserves no praise when it was as badly conducted and LOST as the german ones were after the fall of france. . .
of the USA. . . just the usa? the US wasnt the only combatant in that war as I recall. . .
problem with your point about victory and constitution is they are not actually active ships,,,they havent been active in combat for centuries. . . iowa spent a large part of its service in active combat, I’m sorry but I just dont see why people have such a problem with them, they were well armoured and well armed if not entirely text book in the way their armour belt was built,,,so what? they were designed as fast carrier escorts not anti-battleship weapons so meh
first of all once the war turned the germans had no supplies as basically no supplies could be found in their home land british are not cheap and cowards it was an effecitive stratagy and those fighters were suprisingly very effective again ships so sdfu
Counters for nonthing, because it was never put into a seriously dangerious situation, when they were, they were not the prime targets. Longevity acounts for little, anyone can maintain a ship for decades, just look at the HMS Victory, Centuries it been and still considered a Registered ship in the Royal Navy, same goes for the USS Constitution, which is still registered as an active ship in the US navy primarly in a honorable way.
uhhhh its a total different ballgame nowdays. in Iraq the insurgents blend in, cant really level iraq like germany with bombs, the 2nd iraq war wasnt worth killing civilians unlike the brutalities of ww2
Germany was fighting two fronts and launched the biggest military offensive of all time. . . . nothing will match germany, look at america right now they are using blackhawks and tanks against a couple poor Iraqi”s with Ak-47. . . wow what a great army. . haha
Thats the arrogance that brought NAZI Germany down. The German military was deathly afraid to make a move without Hitlers approval. It was the will and ingenuity of the U. S. A. that eventually destroyed Germany and Japan.
The british are cheap and cowards. . . . they use planes from 1930 and they got destroyed ( The Hood ) and then they 4v1 ? LONG LIVE THE FUHRER!
oh dont worry the political reasons for keeping the ships in service are blatently obvious for all to see. My point is though that the actual design cant be knocked if its survived 50+ years of service, such longevity has to count for something
actually it wasnt the first of that type. . . bizmark had one of those (though less advanced)
And no one says its amazing, but it was a good design
in what way? . . . . . .
Or Presistence to keep a ship class in service when everyone else started throwing them away.
This just shows how stupid the germans were. . . hahaha
meh I disgree, as far as I’m concerned it was a good design, plus its stood up to 50 odd years of service, I personally say thats a good enough sign of the designs quality
